The annual Nantucket Wine Festival, one of our favorite events in the Nantucket calendar kicks this month, from May 15-19. We attended last year's festival and had a truly wonderful experience, and not just because of the wines, but also and as importantly because of the many culinary events combined with the magical sea breezes of this island located 30 miles east of Cape Cod.

During the efstuval, we tasted some spectacular wines, in both intimate and large-scale settings; we took notes on tannins and terroir in a few seminars and cooking demonstrations; and we indulged in one of the best gourmet dining scenes on the East Coast. In the process, we chatted with some friendly winemakers and wine critics who care deeply about wine. Their passion is infectious; and you leave the island with a greater appreciation for great cooking, wonderful environment, and the friends you amde durin g what we must called "a too short of a week".

Fortunately, you don't need to be a wine connoisseur to experience this festival. Amateurs and professionals mingle with ease, and most of the seminars deftly cater to both. However, we strongly recommend that you log onto for tickets and a complete schedule, so that you are truly prepared for this incredible experience of the palate.
